Mark,
Bless you for sharing your cure for restless legs syndrome. That was back in 2008 and here it is 2010 and your kind sharing has saved the day for me as well!

I have been constantly disturbed by RLS since I was a child of 4. Often, my parents would take me to relatives homes while they played cards. My legs were always activated by boredom and the droning on of conversation. I thought for years there was something wrong as no one could imagine how strong my affliction was. I have endured this tormenting disease way before anyone ever revealed it to any of my doctors. Sure, kicking is what some kids do, but this was so much worse. I call it torture as it destroys my sleeping for many days. I notice that certain drugs can activate it as well as other stressors. My arms are also afflicted, but usually only when in a movie theatre when I am extremely fed up with a movie. This is a very mysterious syndrome.

After more than three nights of torture, I was pushed to consulting the internet for my problem as I was going crazy from lack of sleep! To mygood fortune, I read your cure and tried it the next day. All that it took was to wear some great sneakers with great arch support instead of flat sandals. I always go barefoot at home or wear sandals. After one day, I went to rest in the late afternoon and it worked! Since then it never fails. If someone doesn't get relief, they need to switch shoes. Go for something that grips feet and makes them feel snug against the support pad. If it works for me, as I feel my case is over the top, it can work for others. I cannot thank you enough for this information. I don't care why it works as our bodies respond to strange things, but it does work for me and my life will be blessed from now on! Thanks to you and your physical therapist!

Yes, I find that when the treads wear down on my sneakers or I wear ill-fitting or arch-less shoes I get RLS. When I buy fresh sneakers with good support (made specifically for walking) it goes away. One shoe salesman had given me the name of the foot problem that causes this, and I wish I had written it down because I cannot remember it.

I do too notice the difference when I wear better shoes. There are some great sandles that have a good surport too. They are pricey, but to get rid of that feeling they are cheap!
