Restless Legs treatment, again the shoes work

by Mark on July 12, 2010

I started this blog in November 2008, with the single purpose of telling people my Restless Legs treatment. And I have not published since then until today.  My remedy was to wear shoes with great arch support for the entire day, until bed.  I was astonished that it worked, and had to tell others about it.

Since that time, I have not had a problem with RLS, until a couple weeks ago, when it started kicking in anew. I let it assault my sleeping for a week, until I realized that, DUH!, I’d just recently been getting lazy about wearing the right shoes, and wearing them often. I’d gone back to walking around the house barefoot, letting my arch support wear out in old shoes, and wearing sandals often now that summer is here.

So, a week ago I went down to the store and bought some great arch supports and put them into my worn out tennis shoes.  I could tell I needed them, since my feet were a bit sore at first.  The first day that I wore them for the entire day, I had markedly less problems that night in bed. And it’s gotten better each day now.

I write this today, because I want to remind people that stumble across this blog, that the method still works, at least for me.

I say, “at least for me,” because I’m sure it doesn’t work for everyone, as it seems RLS is a tricky, very personal problem. I say this after spending a couple sleepless nights when it kicked back in, reading peoples’ stories online.  There are so many ways people battle Restless Legs, and some work for some people, and other things work for other people.

That being said, I’d really like to spend some time on this blog, writing up some more information about other potential restless leg syndrome treatments.  I’ll be looking through the various forums and medical sites, looking for remedies and post them here.  When I do, I hope to hear your comments.

I’d be interested to hear, in the comments below, some of your remedies, what worked and what doesn’t work. Please, don’t be shy, chime in. They will provide me with some ideas for upcoming articles.

Thank you for the advise about the arch support. I never considered this. I am absolutley miserable and so very tired. I just got off of Requip because it just has too many side effects and now I am back on Senimet which is not really helping so I need some good news.

By the way, I have been researching surgery for RLS and trying to find a Dr. in Houston that is up to date with information regarding this procedure. They do this type of surgery in India.

Thanks again,
Debra
